The fauvists, including art greats such as Henri Matisse or André Derain, are known for their bright and vivid colors and revolutionizing the use of them. The drawing by Gaymann depicts two seemingly sad and disapointed artists, which are having a talk about their future: What if the next exhibition will be a bummer (in German „Flop“) again? The other artist is seemingly more relaxed, he counters with a quite positive and funny response: If that happens, we will go down in art history as the „Flopisten“! – A mix between the well known Fauvists and the German expression for failure „Flop“.
